The Long Goodbye (1973)
A private detective's easy-going friend is accused of murdering his wife and then disappears. The detective doesn't believe his friend is guilty and starts his own investigation. His search leads him through a sun-drenched, morally ambiguous Los Angeles landscape of lies, betrayal, and a gangster who is also looking for his missing money.
