In February 1952, a massive nor'easter splits an oil tanker in half off the coast of Cape Cod. With dozens of sailors trapped on the sinking stern section, the Coast Guard dispatches a small lifeboat crew. Braving 70-foot waves and hurricane-force winds, the four men embark on a seemingly impossible rescue mission against the brutal winter storm.
