See the films the platforms disagree about most →A Portuguese immigrant couple have been reliable and cherished live-in servants for a wealthy Parisian family for decades. Their quiet life is upended when they unexpectedly inherit a substantial property in their native village, offering them a chance to return home and retire in comfort. However, their plans are complicated by the utter dependence of their employers, who cannot conceive of life without them, and a myriad of bureaucratic obstacles. The film humorously and poignantly explores the clash between dreams and duty, and the invisible barriers of class and culture.
