An eccentric and hopelessly romantic inventor is desperately in love with the settlement house worker next door. To impress her and help with her charity work, he invents a series of wildly complicated and Rube Goldberg-esque devices intended to make her life easier. His well-intentioned inventions inevitably backfire, creating chaotic and hilarious situations that disrupt the entire neighborhood and complicate his courtship.
